How to DJ a Wedding

Good wedding DJs should interview the couple in order to reflect their tastes in the party’s music selection. The music a DJ plays and the service he provides determine much of the success of a wedding reception.

OverviewMusic plays such an important backdrop to our lives. Memories often correspond with whatever tune was playing in the background. Weddings are fabulous occasions for celebrating a couple’s past and future through music.Step 1Interview the couple and ask about songs they remember from when they first met, styles of music they enjoy now, and the tone they want to set for their wedding.Step 2Choose from your home catalogue of music songs that would fit with the couple’s vision of the reception. Include a mix of ballads for slow dancing and popular hits to pack the dance floor.Step 3Call the couple and give them a sample play list. This will help jog memories about songs they might want to include. Ask them for a list of songs they definitely want played, and a list of any songs they absolutely don’t want played.Step 4Set up your equipment early. Test everything to make sure there are no technical difficulties. Arriving hours in advance is never too early.Step 5Start your set off by congratulating the couple. Introduce yourself and let the audience know they can ask for requests (if this is alright with the couple).Step 6Play songs at their appropriate times and volume levels. Slow songs for the married couple’s fist dance and faster songs towards the end of the night.Step 7When the bride leaves to change for her honeymoon, let the audience know that the couple will be leaving.skill2ingredientCompact discs
