Photo gallery: Europe’s most active volcano is in spectacular form | The Optimist Daily: Making Solutions the News

While fireworks may look nice, they don’t even compare to the natural extravagance of a volcanic eruption. Recently, the people of Sicily have been treated to an incredible show from Europe’s most active volcano: Mount Etna. The volcano has been spewing massive lava fountains and oozing several flows of incandescent magma, causing ash and lapilli to drizzle upon nearby towns. Fortunately, those towns face no actual danger from the busy volcano. Over here at The Optimist Daily, we’ve been blown away by the incredible images from the recent eruptions at Mount Etna, so we thought we would share a gallery of explosive photos for this Saturdays edition of the Daily.
