A Letter From The Editor
I enjoy being outside with my dog at this time of year. She’s a Brittany Spaniel and the birds in the backyard provide her with plenty of entertainment and opportunity to practice her pointing skills. It is fascinating to me that no one had to teach her to point at her targets; as a hunting dog, she had the instinct innately. But there are plenty of things she has had to be taught and it wasn’t always easy for me. This issue of Happy Living is for dog owners like me, who need to train their pets to do the things that don’t come automatically. These articles should help you train your dog to come to you, be less aggressive, use the toilet in a specific area of the yard, or stay off your furniture.
