Ikea, best known for its cut price flat-packed furniture, is to start selling solar panels – the first attempt by a large retail chain to transform our energy habits.
The thin film cells will of course come flat packed, but are not cheap, costing around £5,700 for a typical semi-detached house.
And shoppers will not be expected to follow one of the Swedish giant’s cryptic self-assembly sheets – the price includes the cost of installation.
