OverviewAir and moisture can destroy a good cup of coffee. The longer the coffee beans sit, the more flavor dissipates. It is best to buy fresh-roasted coffee and use it within 7 to 10 days. (Green coffee beans are an exception to the rule, because they haven’t yet been roasted. Green coffee can sit in a cool location for up to year.)Step 1Store whole coffee beans in a dark, dry, airtight container at room temperature. Whole coffee beans will be good for about 30 days after they have been roasted.Step 2Store ground beans in a dark, dry, airtight container at room temperature. Ground beans will be good for about two weeks.Step 3Store opened coffee from a vacuum-packed tin in a dark, dry, airtight container at room temperature. Vacuum-packing the coffee removes the oxygen and carbon dioxide, which allows the coffee to stay fresh on the shelf. As soon as the tin is opened and subjected to oxygen, it begins to turn stale. The coffee will be good for only 7 to 10 days.skill1ingredientAirtight containeringredientsAirtight containertipIt’s not a good idea to store coffee in the refrigerator.
