OverviewDiminishing supplies of fossil fuels and spiraling energy costs–together with worries about climate change–have resulted in a serious focus on green energy resources. Green energy resources are renewable energy resources. Wind, solar power, geothermal power, biomass energy and green water energy are the five best known alternate sustainable forms of energy available today. These resources are easily renewed and are not being depleted like fossil fuels. Green energy resources are cleaner and healthier, and governments give tax benefits for industries that make green energy equipment, and to individuals who chose to use green energy in their everyday lives.Step 1Trap the power of the sun with solar panels, which are easy to obtain. Solar panels can charge batteries and heat and cool a home, plus run all the equipment, if the home site receives enough sunlight. There are two types of panels available–one that converts solar radiation into electricity and another that directly channels heat. Solar power is a green energy source. Its cost is half that of fossil fuel power. The drawback is that solar may not produce much energy in places that don’t get enough sunlight.Step 2Harness the wind as another natural resource. If the home is on a wind path and the wind rushes past daily, wind power can provide electricity and heat. Wind turbines are available for household use. The drawback: Wind is unpredictable, so most households require a combination of wind and solar power for a reliable energy supply.Step 3Pump geothermal power from deep in the earth. If there are natural geysers or hot springs near the home, converting geothermal energy may be easy. Geothermal heat pumps are available to pump heat from under the ground. This is a popular form of green energy used in cold places like Scandinavia and the Arctic Circle.Step 4Use a wood stove or a stove that burns animal dung or plant waste. This is one form of energy that is available to most people, regardless of where their homes are located. A biomass combustion burner can provide energy for the needs of an entire household. This form of energy is the easiest to renew and the most consistently available.Step 5Convert the energy of water to energize the home. Water not only can be converted into energy, but it can be stored for a consistent supply. For houses near the ocean, a spacial energy converter can make household energy from wave and tidal currents. Micro hydro systems supply low energy wattage to power single homes. Harvested rainwater, when stored, can be used for future conversion into energy.skill3ingredientSolar panels
