OverviewBirthday party decorations are simple and fun to make. Traditional balloons and streamers are great, but personalizing the party makes it much more memorable. Making your own birthday decoration will jazz up the party but is still easy to do.Happy-Birthday BannersStep 1Get scrapbooking paper in the theme you want to use–something the birthday recipient would really like.Step 2Print out large alphabet letters onto the scrapbook paper to spell out your message. Print one large letter per sheet of paper. A good site for letters is http://printerprojects.com/alphabet/letters.html, or you can find other sites with different fonts.Step 3If you don’t find the scrapbook paper you want, use the banner found at http://familyfun.go.com/printables/craft-templates/printable/happy-birthday-banner/ It has a generic party background for each letter.Step 4Attach banner letters to ribbon using tape. Leave at least one inch between each letter, depending on how long you want the banner to be. Be sure to leave at least 10 inches of ribbon on each end of the banner so you’ll have room to hang it.BalloonsStep 1Make balloons serve a dual purpose: Write messages on them with markers once they are inflated.Step 2If it’s a surprise party, have each guest autograph a balloon before the birthday person arrives.Step 3Make the balloons even more festive by drawing on stars, hearts or other items appropriate to the party with colored markers.
